Otter Tail County Courthouse & Detention Center

In 1998, David Shultz lead a planning effort with Otter Tail County to determine a strategy for growing space needs. The Government Service Center facility moved significant offices out of the courthouse, providing the opportunity for a 3-phase renovation project to add enhanced security and updated offices. The remodeling restored the historic public corridors, while discretely integrating modern HVAC, power, and data systems. An additional courtroom was added and appropriate separated circulation systems were provided between the public, court administration staff, and defendants housed in the adjacent detention center. Historic rehabilitation was also completed to enhance the longevity of the building’s exterior elements.
